The Lucky Ones

The photos on this page show some of the dogs rescued from the destruction cages in three of Sydney's largest pounds.

Monica and her team at DoggieRescue save around 1,000 dogs per year and find new homes for them. Monica carefully selects healthy dogs that she believes can be fostered out or re-homed. Sadly these 1,000 represent only a fraction of the poor abandoned dogs needing a home.

At Say No we estimate that 130,000 dogs and 60,000 cats are killed every year because there are not enough homes for them all and too many are bred simply for profit. Pet Shops are in large part contributing to this enormous problem by encouraging irresponsible breeding and impulse purchasing of puppies.

Doggie Rescue is a far better place to buy a pet than your local pet shop. Save a life!
